FooAcademy Tech Lab ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting the privacy of users ("you") who access and use our Logic Engine™ platform. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and shield your personal information.
1. Data Roles (Crucial Legal Distinction)
To ensure clarity regarding data ownership and liability, we define the following roles:
- The Data Controller (The School/Institution): If you are using this platform as part of a school program, your School is the "Data Controller." They decide why and how your data is processed. We process data solely on their instructions.
- The Data Processor (FooAcademy Lab): We act as the technical service provider. We provide the infrastructure (the "Container") but do not own the student records (the "Water").
2. Information We Collect
To provide our services, we collect the minimum amount of data necessary:
- Account Information: Username, Name (as provided by you or your institution), and Class/Grade level.
- Usage Data: Logic tracks, error patterns, time spent on questions, and assessment scores.
- Technical Data: IP address, browser type, and device information for security and optimization purposes.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the collected data strictly for educational and technical purposes:
- To generate academic progress reports and "Mastery Learning" visualizations.
- To maintain and improve the stability of the Logic Engine.
- To prevent fraud and ensure the security of the platform.
- Note: We do NOT sell your personal data to third-party advertisers.
4. Institutional Access & Data Sharing
Your data privacy depends on your account type:
- Personal Accounts: By default, your data is private. It is not shared with any school or institution unless you explicitly join a class or if your institution activates an "Institutional Dashboard" for your account.
- Institutional Access: If your account is linked to a School (Data Controller), that School has the right to view, export, and manage your academic data.
5. Data Security & Disclaimer
We implement industry-standard encryption and physical isolation measures to protect your data. However, please be aware that:
No method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your Personal Information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security against force majeure events, sophisticated cyber-attacks, or unauthorized access resulting from compromised user passwords.
6. International Data Transfer
Your information, including Personal Data, may be transferred to — and maintained on — computers located outside of your state, province, or country. By using this platform, you consent to the processing of data in regions where our servers are located (including but not limited to Mainland China and Hong Kong SAR).
7. Children's Privacy
For users under the age of 14, we rely on the School (Data Controller) or the Parent/Guardian to provide necessary consent for data processing. If we become aware that we have collected Personal Data from a child without verification of parental consent, we take steps to remove that information from our servers.
